About the artist

I come from a family of seamstresses, inspiring, loving, creative women. Recovering and giving fabrics a second life is in my DNA. Self-taught, I unpicked hundreds of garments to understand their construction.

Passionate about fabrics, textures, colors, patterns, I love to touch them to immerse myself and draw inspiration. Ideas are abundant. Repetitive work, assembly line production, that's not for me.

Quebec nature is my primary source of inspiration, the one that surrounds me, that I see every day through my studio window, the song of the cardinal, the robin, the colors of sunrise, the blue of the sky.

My work is like a freeze-frame of things I love and those I've seen during my travels both by the sea and in the forest. I capture ideas that wander in my head to recompose them from bits of fabrics and colored threads.

Artistic Approach

In the back of my mind remain fragments of car rides, bits of nature, colors of sunrises and sunsets, the blue of the sea, the sky.

I am fascinated by death and by the very fact by life as well. Human resilience, the strength of nature that nourishes, dazzles, soothes, confronts, invites us to travel, to silence, to meditation, to rest, to pleasure.

To the sound of the sewing machine I've been playing with since childhood, I added the slow, calm and silent work of hand-stitched points. This daily meditation is done with my favorite natural fabrics: linen, wonderful soft and rigid fabric, supple cotton, soft silk and warm wool. My creations are formed in contact with bits of fabrics that my hands pick randomly, colors of threads that smile at me.

My subjects are simple, real, infinite, as different as the landscapes that nourish my memories; my work instinctive, sometimes conventional; my studio tiny. In this oasis of tranquility, silence and peace I reconnect with my past to recreate bits of life. Simply.
